We let single moms know that they are not alone, by acting as their “extended family” in their time of need.
Our goal is to make their lives a little easier while they continue to work hard to make their life and their families’ lives better. We know that even with all the hard work they do day to day, money is still scarce. That’s one way Diane’s Heart steps in.

Our Work
When Diane Hill Harrison’s only child Tonya was faced with the unthinkable task of planning her mother’s funeral, she could never have imagined what would follow. There was one thing friends and family including Tonya didn’t know. It became evident after the funeral service that Diane had written her own eulogy. She didn’t put pen to paper and summarize her life in a series of moments or dictate her biography to the minister. Instead, Diane had lived a life of selfless service about which her daughter and others were not fully aware. Tonya knew her as a doting and giving mother. She had also seen her mom share her time, personal advice and even her limited financial resources with others but even Tonya was surprised to learn of the magnitude and significance of her mother’s giving. When following the funeral service, person after person sought Tonya out to recount the details of kindnesses her mother Diane had shown to them during a time of need, she was both comforted and proud. She also felt inspired to do more and Diane’s Heart, Inc. was born.

Diane’s Heart foundation was established to support single moms and their children. Studies have consistently shown that the odds are against them. Being a single mom herself, Diane knew those struggles and worked tirelessly to ensure people she encountered didn’t become those statistics. Our aim is to continue helping those mothers and children overcome the challenges they face. Diane touched so many and now her legacy of service lives and loves on through Diane’s Heart, Inc.

From My Heart…
Growing up with a single mom for me was like having a mom, sister and best friend all in one. In some ways we grew up together but there was always respect and a sense that she was “larger than life” in my eyes.
We had some difficulties including times when she had to tell me that I couldn’t have something or it would have to wait until “next payday.” Even in those instances, my mother never said an ugly word about my absentee father. In fact, she wanted me to know that he loved me but had issues unrelated to me. She only wished for us to have a relationship.
My mother was a giver, sometimes to a fault as I would see some people take advantage of her. She would always tell me to give from my heart knowing God would repay me. She told me you should never worry about the one trying to use you because the other 99 really needed your help. I witnessed her helping people when we had little and when we had much. I am grateful that her open heart is my legacy.
